About the Orkney Tourism Group
The Orkney Tourism Group was formed in 2005 to represent the interest of members of the former Orkney Tourist Board and all businesses, individuals and other bodies with an interest in the future development of tourism in Orkney.
The group aims to deliver a world-class product that exceeds visitor expectations and delivers a consistently high-quality visitor experience, with high standards of facilities, and customer service.
Orkney Tourism Group is managed by a Board of Directors, who are elected by the membership at the Annual General meeting.
Over 130 businesses have become
members from a cross section of sectors.
The group has a close liaison with Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Orkney Islands Council who have part funded and continue to support this initiative.
Our Main Priorities
- To enhance the visitor experience of Orkney through initiatives that improve the quality of facilities and service;
- To assist operators to develop their people and their skills;
- To develop effective linkages and joint working with other local groups;
- To ensure greater integration of public transport;
- To enhance co-ordination of cruise visits;
- To extend the tourism season through joint projects;
- To encourage greater spread of visitors throughout Orkney.
